I am pleased to report that Pepe and Scruffy are doing well.
Pepe's wound is healing well. Very lucky. Scruffy is not limping now. Very lucky.

Pepe and Scruffy get sick in the same week
Last week I was busy minding Pepe and Scruffy. They are doing good now. Off to the vet tomorrow again with Pepe. What would we all do without the great vets

Scruffy bites the lock off the stables door
I brought Scruffy and Pixie into the stables as I was waiting on Linda Thompson, from The Donkey Sanctuary, to do a home check. Off I went to the shops to grab

The Diary

4 December 2009

We have been battling the storms but we are fine to date. I've been quiet as I'm a bit tired with the bad weather.

I wanted to wait to write to you until I had some good news to tell you and I do!

I have 2 bits of good news.

A friend of mine did a "Fun Run" and he raised enough money to pay for Bengy's hospital bill. I don know how to thank him. He has saved Bengy's life.

Bengy is still in hospital and the skin grafts have taken well but there is one area in his long wound that is still not healing. So the Vet Louanne came up with a brilliant idea - maggots!

She ordered maggots from a company in England and as I write maggots are eating away at the dead rotten flesh in this difficult area to treat. Bengy is not agitated even though he has maggots eating at his flesh.

Bengy is such a gentle soul. I think he knows that he is in safe hands and he trusts Louanne and even maggots!

Louanne is going to send me a photo of the maggots in action and I'll upload this photo when I get it.

It is fascinating. Whatever it takes to save Bengy.

Take Care in the bad weather
