Even though it is only zero degrees, today was calm with a clear blue sky and a majestic sunset. The Big Lads rested in the afternoon sun and they needed a lie down badly. The snow and recent storm was hard on them.

I am trying so hard to help Pepe lose some weight. I had his blood tested to make sure his thyroid gland is ok and it is so he just has to eat less and exercise more, but I can't walk him myself so I let him run around the yard as much as he can.

Pepe is such a sweet soul. He sits looking at me when I am watching television and would you believe he actually winks at me! It has become a game now. I wink at him and he winks back at me with one eye! He is hilarious. He started the game when I noticed him winking at me about a week ago and now we wink at each other and he loves the connection and so do I. He sits at my feet just like Buttons did looking straight at me waiting for a pet. When he thinks I am not bothering with him he winks at me and then I burst out laughing as I can see him winking from the corner of my eye. Then I play a game and I wink back at him and I keep winking at him till he eventually barks with laughter himself. He is a real pet. He can wink with one eye or two eyes. He really is communicating with me and it is such a treat to be a part of this. 

I call him "Pepsi" and "Whey Hey Pepe" and he loves when I mess with his name.

So fire is lighting and Tesser the Messer, Glossy Blossie, Big Balls Bubbles, Pluto who is so Cute oh and Whey Hey Pepe are all taking their places close to the heat.

I'm about to join them.
