I am pleased to report that Pepe and Scruffy are doing well.
Pepe's wound is healing well. Very lucky. Scruffy is not limping now. Very lucky.

Pepe and Scruffy get sick in the same week
Last week I was busy minding Pepe and Scruffy. They are doing good now. Off to the vet tomorrow again with Pepe. What would we all do without the great vets

Scruffy bites the lock off the stables door
I brought Scruffy and Pixie into the stables as I was waiting on Linda Thompson, from The Donkey Sanctuary, to do a home check. Off I went to the shops to grab

The Diary

22 February 2010

The weather has beeng really beautiful. Blue skies, calm and exquisite sunsets. Some snow here and there but fresh and bright.

I thought we all needed cheering up so I drove to the local beach, which is only 2 minutes away, with the jeep full of dogs. When we got to the beach and I opened the jeep door they all jumped out together in a mad rush to get to the sea.

Pepe was as usual the best swimmer. Pepe really needs to lose weight and so I let him swim as much as he wanted. He wanted to swim for hours but it was getting dark so I had to reel him in. Bubbles swam a wee bit but Bubbles is getting old and the cold water was too much for him. Pluto was so funny. She stole the ball and tried to hide it from the others by digging a big hole!

Blossie just sped around as if she were on the racing track again - only this time she was on a beach where she could enjoy herself and she was under no pressure to win money for anyone. Blossie loves to speed about and I love to watch her as she is now free to enjoy her runs. Not like before where she was expected to win money in a race.

Tess is getting old too and she just wandered about exploring the smells. Tess did not even dip her paws in the water - wise Tess.

I am trying to give Pepe exercise each day but some days I'm not able to walk much myself but he always gets a small walk. I am also keeping Pepe on a diet. He has lost some weight but he has a bit to go yet. Pepe is only about 5 years old but he looks so old due to his excess weight. I'll keep working on him as he is a beautiful pet and I want him to be healthy.

Paddy the Shetland has settled in more. He now grazes along side Scruffy, Pixie and Blackie. He is still afraid of Blackie though and if Paddy is in the stables and Blackie comes in well Paddy goes wild with fear and bolts out as quickly as possible.

Paddy is a nipper. I call him 'Paddy me arse' as when I turn my back he nips at my arse! He doesn't bite me, he just nips at me. He loves to nip at my wellies too and sometimes I almost trip as I walk along side Paddy as he is busy trying to get at my wellies. Mad Paddy.

All the dogs are now resting and drying out at the fire and I am going to join them.

I uploaded some photos of our trip to the beach and some shots of birds on the beach and a nice one of Muckish from my front door I took yesterday.
