I am pleased to report that Pepe and Scruffy are doing well.
Pepe's wound is healing well. Very lucky. Scruffy is not limping now. Very lucky.

Pepe and Scruffy get sick in the same week
Last week I was busy minding Pepe and Scruffy. They are doing good now. Off to the vet tomorrow again with Pepe. What would we all do without the great vets

Scruffy bites the lock off the stables door
I brought Scruffy and Pixie into the stables as I was waiting on Linda Thompson, from The Donkey Sanctuary, to do a home check. Off I went to the shops to grab

The Diary

3 June 2010

No wonder people say the Irish language is difficult!

While Bláithín is a perfect name for my new rescued mare - it is not a perfect name for my web site. I am now finding out that I can't write Bláithín's name using the 'fadas' in the News Section or the Animal Photo Section.

I'm not changing her name just because if this as Bláithín knows her name well by now and she loves her name. Like a wee flower she is beginning to bloom here in the short space of time since she arrived on 28th April 2010.

I added some photos of her today and you can see how her coat is now shiny and she has even put on some weight.

Bláithín is very funny as she knows the drill by now. When she sees me coming out with the bucket of feed for her she knows to sneak away from the pack and head towards the stables. Once she comes into the stables I close the door so Blackie, Pixie, Scruffy and Paddy don't get a chance to steal her dinner.

When Bláithín is finished her dinner I then give all the Big Lads apples and carrots so Blackie, Pixie, Scruffy and Paddy don't feel left out. It took Bláithín almost 2 weeks to take a bite of an apple! The poor horse must never have been given apples. It took her longer to try a carrot. Now she loves apples and carrots and she is such a Lady as when I hand her an apple she takes a bite. When I hand Scruffy and Blackie an apple they just take the whole apple in one go!

Paddy is very close to Bláithín as he grazes right beside her all the time. Paddy may be small but he has a big personality. He is very sweet and just loves me to pet him for ages. He squeaks when I stop to tell me to keep going!

The weather has been so good for the last while and it is lovely to see the Big Lads sunbathing all close together.

Bubbles, Tess, Pluto, Blossie and Pepe have gone through 8 bottles of sun block already!
